ministries / programs

As the Outline of the Faith makes clear the ministry of the church belongs to and is administered by all its members, lay and ordained. This is more commonly known as the ministry of the baptized.

In the Diocese of Chicago, ministry is exercised through the congregations, committees and commissions, ministry teams, advocacy and service organizations, diocesan program offices and units, devotional and faith renewal groups, and, most importantly, through the efforts of each individual lay and ordained person.

Ministry is housing the homeless, feeding the hungry, safeguarding the vulnerable, pursuing peace and justice, assisting the unemployed, inviting the seeker, enriching our worship, and forming our faith.

The primary ministries carried out through our diocesan offices and ministry teams are linked from this section of the site. See the A-Z Directory for a more comprehensive listing of what is available in the Episcopal Church and wider faith community.
