FRESH START is a diocesan-led program to support clergy in new positions and their congregational lay leaders. 

The program is designed to:

  • Offer guidance and support during transition to a new ministry

  • Help build relationships among clergy and congregations in the diocese

  • Strengthen the collaboration between clergy and their congregational lay leaders

  • Expand upon the skills of lay leaders and clergy for congregational development

Fresh Start’s content is based on three key principles: the theory of transition, the importance of relationship building, and the need for self-care.     

 

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Participants become a part of the fruitful exchange of ideas among clergy in the diocese

  • A wealth of resources for congregational development are introduced and made available

  • Participants experience an increased capacity to minister to one another and to their congregations

  • Creates lasting relationships among clergy in the diocese

Q&A

What format can I expect to see at the meetings?

Fresh Start meets on the first Thursday of the month from September to May.  The group uses theories, practical tools, and small group discussions to help participants address issues they face throughout their transition.

What topics are discussed at the meetings?

Topics are based on the four core modules (Transition, History Sharing and Understanding, Leading an Integrated Life, and Entering a New System) and stem from the specific needs and concerns of the participants.  Recent topics include parish finances, conflict management, role clarity, and revitalizing worship music.    

When and where do we meet?

Meetings are held on the first Thursday of the month at the Diocesan Center at 65 E. Huron in Burrill Hall from 9:00- 3:30.  Breakfast and lunch are included. The 2009/ 2010 Schedule is as follows:

When can I join Fresh Start?
