173rd Annual Convention

Nominations are open for election to diocesan office at the 173rd Annual Convention of the Diocese of Chicago, Friday November 19 and Saturday November 20, 2010. Four offices have openings for lay and clerical nomination:  Bishop and Trustees, Cathedral Chapter, General Convention Deputation, and Standing Committee.  The deadline for nominating lay and ordained candidates for election to diocesan office is September 24. Nominations may be permitted from the floor of convention, but sponsors must have information on their nominees prepared for distribution to voting clergy and delegates. The open seats for nomination and election are Bishop and Trustees (one cleric and three lay persons), Cathedral Chapter (one cleric and one lay person), General Convention Deputy and Alternate (four clerical and four lay deputies, four clerical and four lay alternates), and the Standing Committee (one cleric and one lay person). Regarding the canonical officers (secretary of convention, treasurer, parlimentarian, registrar, and historiographer, the convention has the option to waive election in favor of appointment by the bishop. The election ballots will be conducted during the Friday November 19 afternoon business session and Saturday morning.
