Christian Formation Opportunities The Office of Christian Formation, along with related ministries such as the Office of Youth and Young Adult Ministry, offer learning events throughout the year to nurture religious education and spiritual formation for children, youth and adults. These events act as creative catalysts for clergy and lay leaders to provide formative experiences in their own congregations and provide information, resources, and spiritual support. August 28 and 29 2009 The 2009 Whose Church is it anyway? conference for adults who work with children, youth and other adults drew 90 people from the Diocese of Chicago and other Province V dioceses for two days of workshops and inspiring presentations by Nadim Nassar, co-founder of the Awareness Foundation and chaplain at the London School of Economics. In coming weeks resources in the conference packet will be available on the Christian formation resource page. If you have questions or comments, contact Vicki Garvey, Canon for Lifelong Christian Formation, or Barbara Rasero, administrative assistant and event planner, (312) 751-4206. Learning opportunities are a vital part of each Diocesan Convention. Adults can choose from a rich variety of workshops each year on topics such as evangelism, cooperative ministry, Christian formation, peace and justice, leadership development, antiracism training, stewardship, fundraising, spirituality and mission. Children ages 3-11 and Junior High students have parallel programs of their own based on that year’s convention theme. The 173rd Annual Convention is November 19 and 20, 2010 at the Westin Hotel and Conference Center in Lombard. Journey to Adulthood Leader Training One day training session held each fall. Confirmation Camp for 2009 to be announced later. resources |
