High School LIT-Leaders In Training Program

LIT I: June 27 – July 9, 2010

LIT II: June 27 - July 9, 2010


For high school youth entering grades eleven and twelve.

The two week LIT program serves to develop leadership skills in youth. LIT’s will learn to work as a team as well as become cabin and program assistants working alongside camp program staff and counselors. LITs need to go home in between the camp sessions.

CAMP ACTIVITIES

Activities include traditional camp favorites: Archery, Arts & Crafts, Basketball, Boating, Drama, Games, Hiking, Music, Swimming, Team-building/ropes course, Tent camping, and campfires, plus opportunities to try new experiences.

Christian Education is a daily part of the camp experience. It is guided by a Spiritual Director & Episcopal clergy and includes such activities as: art, drama, storytelling, informal prayer & worship, outdoor worship, and Eucharistic services. Campers from other faith backgrounds are welcomed and encouraged to participate. The body, imagination, and spirit will all receive a good work out, learn some new skills, develop, and grow.

The Summer Camp program is conducted at Camp Algonquin along the Fox River near Cary, Illinois.  Accommodations will be at YMCA Camp Algonquin, located about 50 miles northwest of Chicago. The 116 acre site is located on the Fox River, in Algonquin, Illinois.   The week-long sessions are scheduled from late June to late July.
