Death of Phillip Mantle

We are saddened to share the news that Phillip Mantle died on Saturday, June 14.

A longtime friend of the Diocese of Chicago, Phillip was instrumental in starting the St. Barnabas Center with Bishop Primo in 1979. It was one of the first comprehensive centers for women with children coming out of prison and provided job training, social services and health care. Phillip later became the Jubilee Minister for the Province V and the Diocese of Chicago. He was founder and executive director of the Messiah-St. Bartholomew Development Center, an ECCS partner, which focused on hunger and youth programs. Phillip was also a valuable member of the Standing Committee for several years.

A service will be held on Saturday, June 28 at Messiah-St. Bartholomew. Visitation will be at 10:30 am and mass at 11 am. Repast will be at the church after burial. For more information contact Messiah-St. Bartholomew at 773.721.3232.
