Quiet Days for Clergy & Preparing for Lent

February 03, 2017

Bishop Lee and Dean Dominic Barrington invite clergy of the diocese to participate in pre-Lent quiet days that continue the theme of 'a year of regula.'

"As we approach Lent, I want to remind you of my invitation to come together with your fellow clergy to partake in the spiritual food of fellowship and mutual care offered at two clergy quiet days this month. These are offerings to help us deepen our relationship with God in Christ," said Bishop Lee.

On Wednesday, February 15 in Chicago and on Thursday, February 16 in Peoria, the Rev. Winnie Varghese will lead  clergy quiet days with the theme, "When there is no peace."  Both events will run from 10 am to 3 pm, including lunch and a celebration of the Eucharist. Please use this online link to register.

Clergy are also invited to mark their calendars for a Chrism Blessing and Eucharist at St. James Cathedral on the Tuesday of Holy Week (April 11).  This day of reflection is offered for all members of the diocese, including clergy and lay leaders, as a time of refreshment and reflection as we approach the Great Vigil of Easter.  More details and an online link to RSVP will be posted in the newsletter soon.

The Rev. Winnie Varghese is Director of Community Outreach at Trinity Church, Wall Street, and editor of What We Shall Become? The Future and Structure of the Episcopal Church and Church Meets World: Church's Teachings for a Changing World.
