Bishop Lee: Silent Night sponsored by CROSSwalk
December 11, 2012
These are busy days indeed but when it comes to difficult topics like children and gun violence, I'm hoping for some Silent Nights-- specifically on December 17th. As you may know, The Episcopal Diocese of Chicago is working for change throughout Chicagoland through CROSSwalk. What began as a 1,500-person Holy Week procession to remember murdered young people has grown into a point of connection for anguished communities. CROSSwalk is a new force for youth programming and funding. It is a clarion call to action across our city.
As we approach the winter solstice, the longest night of the year, join us in a vigil for "Silent Nights"- nights without gun violence-- in our communities. We will pray and commit ourselves to action. Plenty of parking is available in the church lot.
If you like to sing, we also invite you to join the CROSSwalk Choir, which will perform at this service. The choir will rehearse at First Baptist on Saturday, December 15th from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. Everyone is welcome! For more information visit the CROSSwalk website or email CROSSwalk Director Jack Clark.
