Chicago CROP Hunger Walk 2015

September 16, 2015

CROP Walks raise funds to fight hunger, globally and locally.  The Chicago CROP Hunger Walk will be held on Sunday afternoon, October 18, 2015. Both a 10K lakefront walk and a 2K family walk begin and end at St. James Cathedral. Registration and activities begin at 1:00 p.m.; the walk begins at 2:00 p.m.

Is your congregation outside of the city of Chicago?  There are many CROP Hunger Walks this fall, and a few next spring, in other communities across our diocese, from Peoria to Galena to Waukegan. Click here to find the walk nearest you, and encourage your congregation to participate:

25% of CROP Walk funds return to local food pantries and other hunger-related programs; the remaining funds are used where the need is greatest.  If your congregation has a hunger-related ministry, the diocesan Hunger Committee suggests that you apply to your local CROP Walk committee for a portion of the walk’s proceeds.  Congregations in Chicago may apply to the Hunger Committee electronically from Nov. 1 through Diocesan Convention or complete a paper application at Convention.  The diocesan Hunger Committee and the South Loop Campus Ministry “Takin’ it to the Streets” program are two of the five entities that receive and disburse Chicago’s local CROP Walk funds.
