“For surely I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for your welfare and not for harm, to give you a future with hope.”– Jeremiah 29:11

Dear friends:

We write today to announce the retirement of Georgianna Gleason, who has served faithfully as executive director of Episcopal Charities and Community Services (ECCS) for more than twenty years. Georgianna will step down at the end of 2017, and we hope that you will join us in honoring her and celebrating her ministry at the 58th Bishop’s Ball on November 3.

During Georgianna’s tenure, ECCS has granted more than $17 million to partners whose work advances our mission. Her expertise and commitment to community organizing, and especially her leadership in establishing the Ezra Homes Project in North Lawndale and Waukegan to College, have transformed the lives of countless people who now have, as God promised the prophet, “a future with hope.”

Now the trustees of ECCS are planning for a future that builds on this legacy by working with both long-term ministry partners and innovative new initiatives to meet the needs of vulnerable people even more effectively. In the words of our new mission statement, “Episcopal Charities brings to a broken world the hope for lasting change, rooted in Episcopal vision, faith, and experience, and expressed through collective community efforts.”

We look forward to seeing you at the Bishop’s Ball as we gather to celebrate Georgianna’s ministry and to being in touch with you as this transition unfolds. As always, thank you for your continued support of Episcopal Charities and Community Services and its ministries that bring lasting change and hope to so many among us.

Faithfully,

The Rt. Rev. Jeffrey D. Lee                                                             Cheryl J. Rogers

Fielmente,

El Rvdmo. Jeffrey D. Lee                                                              Cheryl J. Rogers
